Mindset | Create Your Own Reality
What are beliefs? Beliefs are nothing more than thoughts that we keep thinking. Nothing more nothing less. For instance, if you have regular thoughts that you are broke and poor and you are barely getting by, and your parents were broke, poor and they barely got by, then over time this continued thought pattern will develop into a belief. Now you BELIEVE that you are broke and poor and you probably will always struggle just to get by.
You cannot see anything more than what is, therefore as you witness what is and hold that in your awareness it feeds your thought pattern, which again feeds your belief. It is a vicious cycle, and now you have a poverty mindset! Everything around you confirms it, which feeds it and it continues to grow.
Your reality will prove your beliefs to you at every turn. You have a constant thought pattern or mindset of broke, poor and barely getting by. Therefore you attract more of those experiences into your reality. You may have a pattern of low paying jobs, or you may notice a pattern in your life where you either quit, get laid off or fired from jobs. You may have feelings of not being safe or secure. You probably have friends who are experiencing the same reality as you, because like attracts like. You may feel a constant vulnerability, or you may always feel like a victim.
Even if you turn circumstances around for yourself and begin to earn more money, or attract better opportunities you begin to notice that it doesn’t ever seem to last. You may go a solid two years, and then the bottom falls out again. You may blame misfortune, other people or the unfairness of life. We have all heard the phrases, “I can’t win for losing”, or “If it’s not one thing it’s another!”.
We don’t understand that it’s not someone or something else, it’s ourselves; our own beliefs and mindset that is creating the life that we are living. For some people that’s devastating news, but in truth it is really good news. Many of us believe that life is a haphazard game of chance, so to know that we are each CREATING our lives through thoughts, beliefs and mindset is great news because that means that we can change our lives. We can change our reality.
If you are ready to face yourself, then here are three beginning steps that you can take that will start you on a journey of creating a new reality for your life.
Step 1: Accept Yourself - Recognize that you are OK right here, right now. Accept yourself and understand that you have done the best that you can up to this point. Forgive yourself, and be easy on yourself. Don’t take yourself so seriously, lighten up!
Step 2: Become the Watcher - Become the watcher of your thoughts. Understand that you are not your thoughts, and that your thoughts are not thinking you, but you are thinking them. Therefore, you are in control. Recognize your thoughts throughout the day in different circumstances, conversations and moments of quiet. Don’t judge your thoughts, just notice them.
Step 3: Observe the Likes - This will take some practice, but look for things that you like to see. In the past you formed your beliefs based on your thoughts about everything that you didn’t like, right? So now make a deliberate and conscious effort to focus your attention on any and everything that you like. For instance, you like money, happiness, positive people, love, beauty, joy, health, good food…. so focus your attention there.
When your thoughts go to things or people who do not make you feel good, just notice the thought and then steer yourself to a better feeling thought.
You may even create a vision board and fill it with everything that you like and want in your life. Hang it in a place where you will automatically see it several times a day and even sit with it and just look at…. This is powerful!
Once you master these crucial beginning steps, you will be ready to move toward more mindset development, but this is the ground floor!
