Mindset | Business

According to definition, a mindset is a set of assumptions, methods or notations held by
one or more people, or groups of people, which is so established that it creates a powerful incentive within these people or groups to continue to adopt or accept prior behaviors, choices, or tools.

How many diets have you started and abandoned? How many New Year’s resolutions have you forsaken before the month of March? How many goals have you set, and not achieved? How many promises have you made to yourself that THIS is going to be your year, only to repeat the previous years of your life over and over? You are not alone; in fact more people belong to this club than the successful club.

The majority of people feel that willpower is the answer to success and winning, but that could not be further from the truth. Many people beat themselves up every day, because they believe that they don’t have enough willpower to stay the course, when actually it is their mindset that is sabotaging their efforts. It simply does not boil down to “If you want it bad enough”. It takes a conscious and deliberate effort to break a negative mindset.

Cultivating a winning mindset is a process that does not come overnight!

A winning mindset is often spoken of in the realm of business and entrepreneurial endeavors, but most people ignore its importance. All the best education, knowledge, training and strategies will not sustain a person with a negative or poverty mindset.

The origins of a poverty mindset may take most of us back to early childhood. Family history plays a big role in how we develop our mindset, and many of us have been indoctrinated with the “I’m barely getting by” mentality. As we become adults and start to live our own lives, we may still be gripped by the old paradigms of our family’s history of struggle, poverty and negative beliefs.

If you can accept that everything you do stems from your mindset, then you are ready to cultivate a new winning one for your life. Here are my top 3 components to start the cultivation:

Component 1: Connect With Your Passion

Passion is pure energy, and leads us to our destiny when we follow it. When we are passionate, we are creative and happy. From this mental state flows a positive mindset, which is the launching pad to our greatness. Passion is individual, so connecting with YOUR passion will birth ideas for ways to turn it into a profitable business. True authenticity breeds success.

Component 2: Start at the End!

Hold a vision of your whole and complete self. See your ideal self, living your ideal dream life. Marinate and focus on the vision of your best life. What does it look like, and feel like to be you at your absolute best in business and life in general?  See yourself . Envision a detailed day in the life of you as you would be. World renowned author Stephen R. Covey said, “Begin with the end in mind.” Use that mental picture of yourself to propel you forward. Don’t underestimate the power in this.

Component 3: Align Yourself

Come into the awareness of your oneness with a higher power whether you label it as God, Allah, The Universe, Infinite Intelligence, Spirit or another name.

As entrepreneurs we must understand that the internal work is really what propels the outward action forward, not the other way around. Simply taking action without having done the mental work of changing your mindset will surely have you going around and around without gaining much ground!
